9. FIELD MARGINS

The side of the cart track is a good place to study field margins. These are 6 metre strips of land around the cultivated fields. They are managed to provide a better habitat for wildlife.
Look out for...
Birdsfoot trefoil. The seedpods (on the right) resemble a bird's foot.
